Of Starlit Blades and Hallowed Flames

The war isn’t over. It’s just getting started.

Ro has his memories back, and with them, a truth he never wanted: he’s the kingdom’s missing prince, heir to a stolen throne. Thrust into leadership he hasn’t earned, he’s struggling to hold together a rebellion that’s barely surviving. And then there’s Aspen—his childhood best friend, now the woman he might be falling in love with—who’s counting on him to help save her home.

The Golden Grove is under siege. An invasion is coming, but the enemy force looks like a suicide mission: untrained common-folk with no chance of victory. Aspen knows it’s a trap. She just doesn’t know what kind.

What she doesn’t see is Vinea—a former ally now working in the shadows, forced to steal the Sacred Flame that keeps the Grove alive. If Vinea fails, her daughter dies. If she succeeds, the

Grove burns and the rebellion falls with it.

Vinea wants to warn them. She tries. But some secrets come with too high a price.
And when the real attack comes—the one they didn’t prepare for—Ro and Aspen will have to make an impossible choice.

Save the Grove, or save each other.

Praise for Of Starlit Blades and Hallowed Flames

“This books was PHENOMENAL! If you love a completely engaging story that draws you in, captivates you, and holds you breathless till the very end…where the characters are more than just ink on page, but feel more like long lost friends…where you are going to experience every emotion from joy to fear from anger to happiness from despair to hope and all the other emotions in between and you just can’t wait to know what happens next, then you have to read THE SONGS OF LORALAN!” ~Melinda C.

“Have you ever read a book SO GOOD that also absolutely shattered your heart? Well, if you haven’t, here’s your chance! This book made me feel ALL THE EMOTIONS, but regardless of how much I may or may not have cried, it was such a great story. I consider it a win when a book makes me feel emotions so strongly because I’m so connected to the characters.” ~Phi P.

“I haven’t felt this many powerful emotions evoked from reading in a long, long time. Of Starlit Blades and Hallowed Flames offers a depth rarely seen. Even though it is Fantasy, or perhaps because it is, the emotional connection between the characters, and thus the visceral way I connected with them as a reader, is very powerfully evoked.

The author’s message is also an impactful one. Life is tough. It isn’t fair. Unexpected things will happen that will break you emotionally, that will take away everything that’s important to you. But that is not all life offers. If we keep going, we’ll feel the starlight shine down on us, witness the wonders of the Golden Grove or the beauty of intense, meaningful relationships. Nothing is forever. Live each day as if it were your last. Take nothing you have for granted. And reach for what you want in the knowledge that striving is not everything there is to life.

Yes, this novel totally gutted me, but I personally believe that experiencing such overpowering and very real negative emotions from the safety of a book helps to make me more resilient because I know I’ll face something like this in my life at some point or other.

Lorensen does an incredible job of making the pain both understandable and reasonable. It is a part of life and we shouldn’t be trying to pretend it doesn’t exist. This novel is a beautiful example of the Fantasy genre not being about “living in a fantasy”.

This series is incredible and I highly, highly recommend it.” ~Astrid V. J.
